A second home for us
We’re the Nickel family: Ludwig and Julia – your hosts – and our two children. We’re a small part of the large extended Nickel family, who love bringing the whole kit and caboodle and spending time at the Sea House.
Hosts and guests
As a child, Julia often travelled to the Baltic Sea and North Sea. Even back then, holidays had to be by the sea. Ludwig grew up with Catalonia, spending free time and holidays here with his whole family as well as his friends. Everyone has always felt at home here with us. And that’s something that’s very important to us; we love being hosts. We love being in company and enjoying time together.
So, as Rhineland natives, we’re only too keen to escape the grey weather and travel to our second home in Spain.

A place for family and friends for 50 years
Father, father-in-law, and grandpa Herbert Nickel built the houses on the Costa Brava in 1974, creating a second home for the family that has been lived in and loved ever since. Father, father-in-law, and grandpa Herbert Nickel built the houses on the Costa Brava in 1974, creating a second home for the family that has been lived in and loved ever since.
After Herbert Nickel’s death in 2019, we knew we had to breathe new life into the houses. So, in 2021 and 2022, we gutted, renovated, refurbished and remodelled them, combining new with old. We finally finished our first construction project in late 2022, and we’re actually pretty proud of it.
Enjoying together
Now, we want to spend as much time there with family and friends as possible. Perhaps we’ll be able to get to know you too and enjoy a cheeky glass of wine together overlooking the sea.
By the way, the entire family and all our friends naturally pitched in to collate the information you’re reading on this website, and we also worked together to create the Tips page for you.
